paint by pixels

I hope you had the joy of creating an awesome painting of a bouquet of flowers as a kid just by filling in the gaps on horrible newsprint with the correct color. I also hope it stayed on the family fridge for months until it was joined by an amazing crayon, marker, & macaroni masterpiece.

Enough of the memory lane trip & time for a modern twist on the paint by numbers idea. I think this twist is awesome not only because the small sense of accomplishment I get when completing a task but, it is a community effort!

Painted with Pixels was created by iam8bit Productions for the "The Game Developers Conference"  in 2012. The idea is each of the conference’s attendees would receive a 2″ pixel, either cyan, magenta, yellow, or black and would get to place his or her pixel on the wall in a corresponding square.

This is a "Why didn't I think of that?" project. I was tasked with coming up with a community project for Dell on Earth Day and it was not nearly as cool as this. Well, it was cool but not 20 feet by 8 feet of dragons & monsters cool.

Unleash Your Fingers (video)

You are about to be introduced to a dance called "Tutting." Who knew you could do so much just by moving your hands? I have seen this type of dancing before but mix it with cool motion graphics and it takes "Amazing!" up to "Oh My Gosh! My head is going to explode!" Well, at least thats what it did for me. I still won't stray away from my iPhone but great dancing.

i am baker

I secretly think I am great at baking and I love to bake anything challenging, especially when I can eat it after I am done. I found a blog that made my mouth water and humbled my little baking soul. It is called "i am baker" and you won't stop scrolling, clicking, and salivating once you visit this site. The cakes are beautiful and creative, the cookies are simple and cute, and it all makes me want to lick my computer screen. Not only will you see sugary sweets but there and loads of recipes and step-by-step instructions on how to make these beauty's yourself.

minority designers

I, like all designers that attended school, was taught about great designers. In that group of greats there were people like Paul Rand, Saul Bass, and Paula Scher. Recently I reflected on all the things missing from who I learned about. There where really no Black, Hispanic, Asian, and just a few women in the bunch of greats being taught.

I did my own research and here where the results of my findings. There were more greats that never came out of my teachers mouth that, in my opinion, should have.
